Bundy Country Decoys are a more traditional approach to the decoy form. Here, we tackle the paint job just as old-time decoy makers did. We work up a plumage pattern that says: “I’m a Mallard!” or “I’m Mr. America!” Then we transfer the pattern to the decoy, and use a burning pencil to define the blocked-out plumage. The most fun thing is next: dabble, dabble, stir up colors, adjust tints in the paints, brush, brush. The duck comes to life right under our hands. Before long we have our raft of decoys painted; job done, time for a break! The paint colors are naturalistic, based on each bird’s plumage.

These are great for people who want a “duck that looks like a duck”. Our Country Ducks have a charming presence. They fit well into country interiors in homes and offices. Some folks have told us they make great low-maintenance pets. With wood-burned details, hand painted, and finished with special antiquing, they have a rustic, old decoy look; the perfect accent for your country décor.
